After getting back to Moscow region, visited Chernaya on 25th of August. The air cleared of smoke, but nature stays depressed after the awful drought.

On 17th of July went to Chernaya again.

Moscow region’s largest Jewel Beetles, Chalcophora mariana sit on a dead pine trunk, from which they probably recently emerged:

Chernaya

On 8th of June 2010 went to Chernaya station in the south of Moscow region. Despite being in the south, there is a boreal touch to it, with damp coniferous woodland neighbouring mixed forest with oak as well as steppefied open areas, which results in a very diverse habitat.
