Morden Hall Park

Nearly a month since I’ve hurt my foot (stepped on a nail) and finally I am able to go out again!

A warm, fairly sunny, but very windy day, +23° C. Been to Morden Hall Park.
Just common stuff around, but I took photos anyway. Myathropa florea:

Morden Hall Park

A cloudy, hot, misty day, +27° C. Been to Morden Hall Park.
Rose Chafer (Cetonia aurata) isn’t a particularly common species in Britain, you usually see single specimens:

Burnet Companion moth (Euclidia glyphica), quite a late specimen, I’d say:

A warm, moderately sunny day, +23° C. Been to Morden Hall Park.
Banded Demoiselles (Calopteryx splendens) are having a good year, I see them even quite far from water, actually saw one in front of my house!

But it’s flies that are most diverse now.

It’s Nomada cuckoo bee heaven at the moment! I don’t know these very well, so there are likely to be errors in identifications, suggestions are welcome.

This might be Nomada panzeri:

This one looks like N. flava to me:

Morden Hall Park

At last a warm, sunny day after a rainy week. +23° C. Went to Morden Hall Park.
Usual butterflies are catching up with their affairs. Marbled Whites (Melanargia galathea) and Ringlets (Aphantopus hyperantus) are now firmly established at the park. Ten years ago I wouldn’t see them here.

Box Bug (Gonocerus acuteangulatus) is another newcomer to the South London area. Originally restricted to wild Box trees at Box Hill (hence the name), it has recently spread throughout Southern England:

Morden Hall Park

After many rainy days there was, at last, something that may be described as a bit of sunshine today. Took a quick stroll through Morden Hall Park.
Saw a Wren and a male Kestrel, that has just caught a huge fat mouse.

Meadow Browns (Maniola jurtina) are flying:

Just by the northernmost exit noticed several smallish, rather bright-orange hoverflies that were somewhat intermediate between Helophilus and Myathropa in appearance. At home they turned out to be Parhelophilus frutetorum, a wetland species associated with bulrushes. There is a wetland habitat with Bulrush at Morden Hall Park — but about 200 metres away.
